Renault Megane concept will join Geneva debuts
A concept for the new Renault Megane, a Volkswagen Golf diesel-hybrid and Mercedes-Benz’s BlueEfficiency model range will be highlights at next week’s Geneva auto show.
Renault will unveil a design study for a two-door coupe that likely will replace the Megane three-door hatchback.
The concept will show how Renault plans to refresh its key lower-medium range to boost falling sales. Geneva visitors will be watching closely to see if Renault designers have toned down the carmaker’s unconventional styling for the third-generation Megane.
VW’s Golf TDI Hybrid concept has a diesel engine and a 20-kilowatt electric motor. The car can run on electric power alone and uses 3.4 liters of fuel per 100km.
Mercedes will debut three C-class sedans that feature its new fuel-saving BlueEfficiency technologies.
To reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 12 percent, the sedans feature downsized engines, better aerodynamics and lighter construction materials.
